More about Newcastle People's Chorus
The Newcastle People’s Chorus was formed in 1988 and is motivated by the idea of creating a more just, caring and sharing society. We love singing together and that alone brings great enjoyment but, as well, we perform at various events throughout the year. Many of our songs reflect concern for peace, social justice, workers’ rights and civil rights. Next year we are looking forward to celebrating our 35th Anniversary.
The Chorus has produced four music albums, appeared on TV and toured the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. Our repertoire has over fifty songs such as “If I Were Free, “Walls and Windows”, “The Eureka Song”, as well as songs by artists like The Flying Pickets, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, or Billy Bragg, and also traditional songs like “Solidarity Forever” and “Bread and Roses”.
