Japanese Ceramics Talk

Thurs 16 March 2017
05:30-07:00pm
To coincide with Perseverance, Newcastle Museum will be exhibiting a selection of works from Newcastle Art Gallery's extensive collection of Japanese Ceramics.  This collection encompasses both Mingei 'folk art' and Sodeisha 'crawling through mud association' - avant garde non-functional ware. The Gallery has the largest collection of Sodeisha ware in the Southern hemisphere.  Join Newcastle Art Gallery curator Sarah Johnson for a talk exploring the contents and origins of this remarkable collection.
