Christmas Events

Enjoy the exquisite sounds of organ and carols in the Link Gallery performed by the Newcastle City Choir and decorate our giant Christmas tree with creatures from the deep. Visit our shop to buy unique locally made Christmas gifts and souvenirs to send to loved ones overseas.
A deep sea tree
There will be no baubles or stars on our tree this Christmas. Instead we will need you to make the amazing and sometimes just plain weird creatures you meet in the deep. Learn about the layers of the ocean, from the sunlit zone to the trenches as you work your way down our deep sea tree.
- Come in anytime and write a special Christmas message on a deep sea creature and add it to the tree.
- Join us from 11 – 12pm every Tuesday in December (3,10, 17 Dec) and make deep sea creatures and other fun stuff to decorate the tree
- Come along to the special opening day (Saturday 7 Dec from 10am – 2pm) and make deep sea creatures and other fun stuff to decorate the tree
- Enjoy carols by candlelight from 7 -8pm on Thursday and make deep sea creatures and other fun stuff to decorate the tree
