Spy: espionage in Australia is a national touring exhibition exploring the history of Australian security and intelligence from Federation through to the present day. The exhibition uses records and objects from the National Archives’ collection and loan items from ASIO and other security agencies to bring to life this fascinating history.
Often cloaked in myth, the stories of spies are sometimes stranger than fiction. Spy: Espionage in Australia reveals the personal experiences of secret agents and the curious history of espionage and counter-espionage in Australia, from Federation through to the present day.

Using objects from the National Archives of Australia, ASIO and other security organisations, the exhibition brings the stories of spies out of the shadows and into the light.
The project involves a partnership with ASIO which has provided in-kind support including object loans, research assistance and the production of filmed officer interviews for inclusion in the exhibition.
