Join researchers from the University of Newcastle for a tour of Heimat in the Hunter, to learn more about the development of this exhibition and the history and stories of German-speakers in the Hunter region.

Heimat in the Hunter is an exhibition developed in partnership by Newcastle Museum and the University of Newcastle. The exhibition draws upon locally relevant research undertaken by University of Newcastle academics, Dr Sacha Davis, Dr Jaime Hunt and Associate Professor Julie McIntyre.

By creating communities, sharing knowledge and celebrating culture, German speakers are one of the many language groups who have contributed to the diverse cultural history of the Newcastle region.

This exhibition reveals some of their stories.
