School Holidays: Earth Day - Our Power, Our Planet

Tuesday 22 April 2025
10am - 12pm
2 hours

Celebrate Earth Day 2025 with a fun school holiday event where kids and families can explore ways to care for our planet.

Activities include:

Make your own leaf crowns with Acacia Play:

Create handmade crowns from leaves and cardboard, perfect to adorn heads and homes. Every crown tells a story of our connection to the earth, and we invite you to join us as you collage a little nature that will grow in your heart and memories long after the day.

Plus, join us for more hands-on activities families can enjoy at their own pace including leaf rubbings, wax resist art, pumpkin and sunflower seed collecting, decorating seed packets to take home, and sampling delicious apple spirals with cinnamon to taste.

Low Sensory Wayapa Wuurk:

Join health practitioner and proud Darkinjung woman Sarah Corrigan from Rainbow Crow Cultural Collective for a special inclusive Wayapa program for neurodivergent people and their carers. This session is particularly targeted to those with sensory needs.

Wayapa® is an earth connection practice that is based on ancient Indigenous wisdom, focusing on taking care of the Earth as the starting point for creating Earth Mind Body Spirit well-being. Mindfulness and Indigenous inspired movements allow for a healing space through yarning, sharing and connection.

Mini EVs:

Explore hands-on sustainability activities, including a solar car track where kids can build and test their own mini EVs. Drop in and discover fun ways to learn about clean energy and the environment!

Discover the Library of Useful Things: New loanable kits with the Newcastle Libraries team. From Home Energy Kits, Induction Cooktops, Thermal Cameras, to Spark! Discovery Box (Space J.U.M.P.) created on behalf of the Australian Space Agency.

Learn about the lifecycle of plastic from the City of Newcastle Waste Management team.

Plus so much more!

Ages: All Ages. Families are welcome but all children need to be supervised.
