LEGO Brickworks

01 Aug 2012 - 06 Sep 2012

Creative Australians from a variety of industries were invited to take part by submitting their own distinct design inspired by play to be turned into a LEGO brick mosaic up to 1.1m tall. Continuing to celebrate 50 years of the LEGO® brick in Australia, LEGO Australia has teamed up with ten creative personalities including Romance Was Born and Adriano Zumbo to build an exhibition of unique pieces of art, made entirely from the iconic colourful LEGO bricks.

The LEGO Brickworks exhibition offers something for everyone, from fashionistas to foodies, budding artists to designers. There’s personal creations from fashion designers Romance Was Born, patissier Adriano Zumbo, paper engineer Benja Harney, tattoo artist and illustrator Simplesime and child artist Max Treffkorn, to name a few, with each installation created from a personal image supplied by the artist.

Each design was inspired by the artists’ take on play and the endless possibilities of the LEGO brick, and was meticulously built by one of only 13 LEGO Certified Professionals in the world, Australia’s own Ryan McNaught, and a team of skillful helpers over three weeks.
